Andhra Pradesh, formed in the Bay of Bengal, is shaking. Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has already alerted the officials in the wake of the cyclone warnings. Also, the people of the hinterland are advised to be cautious. Meteorological department officials have already revealed that the impact of this storm is likely to be especially on Rayalaseema and South Coastal districts. In this order, the Chief Secretary of the State Government Dr. KS Jawahar Reddy ordered the Collectors of the respective districts to be alert. To this end, a video conference was held with the Collectors of Tirupati, SPSR Nellore, Prakasam, Chittoor, Annamaiya and YSR districts from Amaravati Secretariat on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, CS Jawahar Reddy said that according to the Indian Meteorological Department, Cyclone Mandus is likely to hit the coast between Puducherry, Mahabalipuram and Sriharikota by midnight on the 9th of this month. Due to this effect, moderate to heavy rains are likely to occur in Rayalaseema and South Coast districts till the 10th of this month. Therefore, the CS directed the collectors to remain in the field and take all necessary precautionary measures. CS Jawahar Reddy said that a total of 5 NDRF teams have been made available, one in Prakasam district, 2 in Nellore district, 1 in Tirupati district and 1 in Chittoor district as part of the pre-emptive measures. He also said that a total of 4 SDRF teams, one each in Prakasam, Nellore, Tirupati and Chittoor districts, have been made available. CS Jawahar Reddy ordered the Collectors of the respective districts to be fully prepared to take prompt action if there is any problem with the roads or other communication system due to rains and heavy rains. Measures should be taken to ensure that control rooms work continuously in the districts.
