New Delhi: The Lok Sabha was adjourned within minutes of its commencement for the second day today as the opposition parties protested over the incident in which two women were dragged naked and gang-raped in Manipur. They were adjourned till 12 noon.
Monsoon Session of Parliament started yesterday. At that time, a notice was issued by various parties in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to discuss the issue of 2 women being taken in a procession without clothes in the Manipur riots. When the Lok Sabha met, condolence was offered to the deceased members. Following this they were adjourned at 2 pm. As soon as they convened in the afternoon, they were adjourned due to opposition parties’ agitation over the Manipur issue.
Earlier, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh spoke in between. He said, “The central government is ready to discuss the Manipur issue, but the opposition parties are deliberately impeding and stalling it.”
However, today the opposition said, “The House, which passed the adjournment resolution, should postpone the proceedings and hold a discussion on the Manipur incident. “The Prime Minister should speak about the Manipur incident in the House,” they shouted. They carried a banner near the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and chanted “Let’s discuss the Manipur issue”. The Speaker said that the House would be adjourned till 12 noon due to the storm.
Adjournment of State Assemblies: While the Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 12 noon, the Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till 2.30 pm.

Among them, two women were taken in a procession into the village, naked and humiliated. A woman was gang-raped. The tribal women begged the youths to leave them. They also killed a tribal youth who tried to stop the incident. The video footage was released on social media yesterday and created a stir.
4 arrested: After the Manipur video incident came out, a case of kidnapping, gang rape and murder has been registered against an unidentified armed gang at Nangbok Chekmai Police Station in Manipur’s Taubal district. The police arrested two of the main criminals who were seen in the video recording yesterday.
House arson: In Manipur, the house of one of the youths who dragged two women naked and humiliated them in a procession in the village has been set on fire. It has been reported that Maithei women belonging to the youth set fire to the youth’s house. It has also been reported that the women have said that the youths have brought shame to the entire Maithei community due to this incident.
