Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the National Olympic Committee, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, opened the activities of the 38th edition of the International Sports Medicine Conference, which began yesterday, and its work continues. At the Dubai World Trade Center until the day after tomorrow, with the participation of an elite group of medical personnel in the specializations of sports medicine, orthopedics, physical therapy and rehabilitation, sports nutrition, sports psychology, and sports and movement sciences.
The opening was attended by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, President of the UAE Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, and a number of public and sports figures.
The National Olympic Committee, represented by its Sports Medicine Committee, is organizing the 38th edition of the International Sports Medicine Conference, in cooperation with the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, the Emirates Physical Therapy Association, and the Emirates Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Society, in the presence of more than 30 supporting bodies and more than 70 nation.
The agenda of the current edition of the event includes 16 diverse sessions, in which 130 speakers participate, in addition to 6 workshops. The four days of the conference will witness the presentation of 304 research papers.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum expressed his appreciation to the Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Sports Medicine, which succeeded over the past editions of the event in selecting important topics for the athletes’ community, which formed a strong base and a sustainable platform for the progress that has been achieved today in global studies and research that played a role in An influential role in improving the reality of sports medicine, enhancing the level of its members, and developing all its branches and departments.
His Highness pointed out that the UAE’s hosting of major events related to sports sciences represents a certificate of global trust and a gesture of appreciation from major international institutions for the professionalism and high level of performance that resulted in the success of these events by setting new standards for excellence and leadership, and adding a unique character to organizational work with ambitious national cadres.
His Highness said: “The distinguished international participations will enrich the conference, and the discussions it includes, aimed at exchanging ideas and proposals, and reviewing visions in the presence of scientific figures possessing accumulated experience, to complete the historical march of the International Federation for Sports Medicine that began in 1928 on the sidelines of the Olympic Games in Amsterdam.” ».
In his speech before the conference, the Chairman of the Sports Medicine Committee of the National Olympic Committee, Dr. Hashel Al-Tunaiji, stressed the great interest that the wise leadership attaches to the sports sector in its various fields, including sports medicine and sports sciences, which is embodied in the National Sports Strategy 2031.
For his part, the President of the International Federation for Sports Medicine, Professor Fabio Pigozzi, in his speech during the conference, pointed to the increasing responsibilities of sports medicine within various sports, noting the importance of strengthening educational initiatives and exchanging medical and scientific expertise at the regional and international levels.
