Raipur: 11 people, including 10 policemen, were killed in a bomb attack by Maoists in Thandewada district of Chhattisgarh.
Police from the District Police Force (DRG) in a van rushed to Aranpur area of Thandewada district after getting information about Maoists hiding there. After the search was over, the IED exploded on the Aranpur road. In this, 10 policemen and one driver died.
Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Bhupesh Begal said, “The death of policemen has caused great pain. My deepest condolences to his family. The fight against the Naxals is in its final stages. “We will never let them go,” he said.
Following the incident, Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Chief Minister Bhupesh Begal over phone. At that time, he assured that the central government will provide all necessary assistance to the state government.
The place where the incident took place is 450 km from the capital Raipur. It is to be noted that the District Police Force was formed by the State Police Department to curb the activities of Maoists in Thandewada district.
