A Yemeni government report revealed that more than 9,000 displaced families have been affected by the torrential rains and torrential rains accompanied by strong winds in the Marib governorate, in the northeast of the country, during the past ten days.
The report issued by the Executive Unit for the Management of Displaced Persons Camps in Ma’rib Governorate (governmental), on Friday, said, “The total number of displaced families affected by the rains and torrential rains that the Ma’rib governorate witnessed since March 13 reached 912 affected families, of which 273 families were completely affected and 8,847 families were partially affected.” .

The Executive Unit sent an urgent distress call to the United Nations and to humanitarian organizations and local, regional and international relief agencies to quickly intervene in order to provide relief to those affected and provide their basic needs of shelter, food and shelter materials necessary for them.
According to the report, thousands of displaced families in Marib governorate live in emergency housing such as tents, nests and temporary nets that cannot withstand the harsh climatic conditions and are constantly damaged in the rainy seasons and weather fluctuations.
He pointed out that the humanitarian situation of most of the displaced families in Marib is difficult and requires the concerted efforts of all humanitarian partners in the governorate to provide them with relief, alleviate their suffering and secure their most important needs.
He stressed the need for coordination to develop a joint plan to avoid the occurrence of such risks in about 197 camps and gatherings for the displaced in the directorates of the city of Marib, Al-Wadi and Medghal, and work to address them urgently.
Marib governorate hosts more than 60% of the total number of displaced people in Yemen, numbering about 4.3 million people, most of whom are women and children.
