Marina Mora reveals that Tatiana Calmell and Sofía Cajo are the favorites of Miss Peru: “You can tell they are more prepared” | interview

This Sunday, June 9, the final gala of Miss Peru 2024 will be held, an event that goes beyond a simple beauty competition. Organized by Jessica Newton, the contest seeks to highlight not only the physical appearance of the participants, but also their intelligence, talent and commitment to social causes. On this occasion, the contest is searching for the successor of Camila Escribnswho currently holds the title of representative of Peru in the Miss Universe pageant.

Shortly after meeting the new queen who will be crowned the winner of Miss Peru Universe 2024 and the representative who embodies Peruvian values and culture, capable of projecting them internationally; Marina Mora was encouraged to reveal who of the more than 30 candidates have the best chance of winning the beauty pageant that will be held in Plaza Grau, and no longer in La Fortaleza del Real Felipe.

Marina Mora, director of Miss Teen Model International and Miss Top Model International, was also encouraged to comment on the controversies that revolve around the contest organized by Jessica Newton, both in regards to the prices to see the final in Plaza Grau as well as the alleged favoritism towards some of the candidates.

—This Sunday is the final of Miss Peru, do you already have your favorites?

—Of course, my favorites are Tatiana Calmell and Sofía Cajo.

—Some believe that Tatiana Calmell will be the winner. So why have a contest?

—I have taken the time to evaluate, there are very pretty girls, but they have to prepare more. This is a competition. Maybe they (Tatiana and Sofía) are the favorites because it shows that they are more prepared. They are very pretty girls who stand out in the group.

—Is it a good strategy to separate the ‘challengers’, those who have more experience and practically the winner emerges from there?

—This year they will no longer do it on a TV program, but in Callao. Do you like that idea?

—I consider that the director of that organization and the production team are the ones who have to make the decision of how, where and when they do it. It’s your event. To tell you if I liked it or not, I would have to see it the day it airs.

—Another controversy that arose was the price of tickets for the final, which reached $200. What do you think?

—(Marina interrupts and changes the subject) For this reason, the final of the Miss Teen Model and Miss Top Model International will be on Saturday, June 15, at 7:00 pm, at the Yanahuara viewpoint (Arequipa). It’s going to be a free show for everyone.

—So, you prefer not to comment on the subject?

—I believe that each production and each organization has the right to charge or not. As director of a national and international event, I know that the costs of holding an event are high and each person will see how they cover these costs. If they decide to charge admission, they must respect and obviously the public that is willing to pay to see a beauty show, a talent show, a show of singers, of former beauty queens together; will pay for it. They told me ‘Marina, how are they going to get paid’, I said ‘but they pay to go see boxing or shows that – for others – are not worth it, but for beauty pageants, it is worth it’. There is an audience for everyone.

-There are people who are happy

—Of course, they will be able to go support their candidates.
