San Francisco. The martial arts fight between Musk and Mark Zuckerberg may not be happening any time soon, as Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg has undergone surgery after suffering a knee injury during a martial arts session.
“Torn my ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and just had surgery to replace it,” Zuckerberg posted in a post on Instagram.
He was apparently training for his next competitive mixed martial arts (MMA) match.
“I was training for a competitive MMA fight early next year, but now it’s been delayed a bit,” the Meta CEO said late Friday. Still waiting to do it after I recover. Thanks everyone for the love and support.
His followers wished him a speedy recovery. It takes up to a year for professional athletes to recover from such an injury.
Last month, Zuckerberg posted a selfie on Instagram that showed his face swollen and with multiple bruises under his eyes and on his nose.
The Meta CEO said it happened when a common training method in fighting got out of control.
He said, “The competition has gotten a little out of control. My avatar may need to be updated.”
Zuckerberg has been involved in combat sports like MMA and Jiu-Jitsu for a long time. He has been seen more active after ex-owner Musk challenged him.
In August, Musk said the fight with Zuckerberg would be livestreamed at an epic location in Italy.
Recently, Zuckerberg was awarded a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by his coach Professor Dave Camarillo after several years of training.
