It has been confirmed that striker Anthony Martial will be absent from the ranks of Manchester United in the upcoming match against Manchester City next Saturday in the FA Cup final, due to a thigh injury. Martial was injured during Manchester United’s last Premier League game this season.
Martial was injured after participating from the bench in the match against Fulham last Sunday, and x-rays revealed the nature of the injury. Manchester United said in a statement :”Anthony Martial will miss Saturday’s match in the FA Cup Final against Manchester City due to injury.”
He explained that the French international player suffered a thigh injury before the end of the match, which ended in a 1-2 victory over Fulham on Sunday evening at Old Trafford. And he added: “The evaluation of the player’s condition revealed that he was suffering from a muscle tear, which required the absence of the 27-year-old player from the match scheduled at Wembley Stadium.”
And the British news agency “BA Media” reported that Manchester United missed Martial’s efforts in the first two matches in the English Premier League this season due to a problem in the thigh, and the player also suffered from minor injuries, reducing his participation to only 29 matches in all competitions in the season, during which he scored nine goals. Martial participated in 11 of the 21 matches he played in the English Premier League this season, and he was hoping to participate mainly in the face of Manchester City.
