New Delhi. Leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki has been sent a show cause notice by the GST authority, asking it to pay Rs 139.3 crore in tax along with interest and penalty.
The company said in a regulatory filing that the notice pertains to the matter of tax liability on the basis of reverse charge on certain services for the period July 2017 to August, 2022.
The company said it would respond to the show cause notice.
Maruti Suzuki has claimed that it has received a favorable order from the Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissing the appeal filed by the Central Excise Department in the earlier case of payment of Rs 57.2 crore for the period June 2006 to March 2011. was given.
The company further said in the filing that the Central Excise Department had filed an appeal before the High Court against the earlier tribunal order of August 2016, the judgment of which had come in favor of the company allowing input service credit on certain services and The fine imposed was waived.
