Max Castro talks about his love for Andean music
In an interview with the Republic, the artist Max Castro spoke of his commitment to Andean music, the importance of performing folk events with the best of technology and his dream of filling the National Stadium.
—William Luna has just released a salsa disc. Would you like to try new genres?
“Well, everyone has their own tastes.” As artists, we will always risk, to propose. In my case, it would be a bit risky, but each artist’s proposal is respected,
“Are you faithful to Andean music?”
“I’m my thing, it fills me.” There is a lack of work for our Andean music. That does not mean that it cannot venture into another genre, but it is a collaboration.
“Would you like cumbia, which is the gender of the moment?”
“As a musician and as a singer, I have no limits.” I love everything from Peru and also abroad. But my characteristic is folklore, which is what I dominate and do the most.
“What an artist would you like to collaborate?”
“With emerging artists, there are great in recent times and it is also a way to support them.” The doors of my heart are open to help and be part of a new project.
“What importance do you give awards like Cape Music?”
“Recognitions are appreciated, but it’s not behind that.” They also told us to present a material for Viña del Mar, but there is nothing like the things that alone. If there is a type of recognition of someone or an entity, welcome, but it is not something you are looking for.

Max Castro dreams of filling the National Stadium
“Why do you like to celebrate your anniversaries in large stores such as the San Marcos Stadium or National Stadium?”
“We have always tried to make good shows in order to extol and give her place corresponding to our music.” Our interest is that this stereotype is over that provincial music is only in small events. We have witnessed many good folklore shows. We want people to go and enjoy a great concert in a good place, with a great stage, with lights and an international sound team.
“What stadium do you dream of doing a great concert?”
“I would like to repeat in the National Stadium, a place longed for by many artists.” It is quite difficult to have the stadium, but it is possible in advance. I would like to summon more public and be massive. I know we are going to achieve it, but there is still a lot to work.
“A show is coming with Gustavo Ratto and Johnsy Gonzales.” What can you tell us?
“We are going to be all three together singing, each with their own style, despite the fact that we are cultivators of Andean music. Both Johnsy González and Gustavo Ratto have a very good musical proposal, which is the tunantada. In addition, it will be a show lunch, so that families go.
