The organizing body for the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards revealed the list of football stars nominated to win the awards for the 15th edition, which will be held on the sidelines of the Dubai International Sports Conference, scheduled to be held next December 27, with the support of the Dubai Sports Council.
The list includes seven Spanish League stars, including Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, Brazilian Vinicius Junior, and Englishman Jude Billingham from Real Madrid, along with Norwegian Erling Haaland, Spaniard Rodri from Manchester City, and the two legends, Argentine Lionel Messi and Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo.
Yesterday, voting opened all over the world across the 12 main categories, putting Haaland (the holder of the Best Player title) facing Mbappe, Argentine Lautaro Martinez, Inter Milan player, and English player Harry Kane, Bayern Munich player, in competition for the same award this year.
Haaland also competes in the best striker category with Chelsea star Cole Palmer, who scored seven goals in 11 matches in the English Premier League this season. He is also on the list of best midfielder with Bellingham, Italian Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella, and Barcelona and national team star. Spain Dani Olmo.
The list of nominees for the Best Female Player category includes the Spanish World Cup-winning duo Aitana Bonmatti and Salma Baraluelo, along with Barcelona player Caroline Graham-Hansen.
On the other hand, the Spanish giant Real Madrid, the defending German league champion Bayer Leverkusen, and 10 other continental or local champions from three continents are competing for the best club award.
After a break from titles that lasted more than 30 years, Leverkusen succeeded in the 2023-2024 season in winning its first German League title and its second German Cup title, becoming the first German team to win the league or the local double without defeat, achieving a new European record with 51 consecutive matches without losing in all competitions.
The name of Leverkusen’s Spanish coach, Xabi Alonso, was included in the final list of nine candidates for the Best Coach Award, along with Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta, and Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Meanwhile, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are among the final five teams competing for the Best Women’s Club award.
Fans can vote for their favorite players electronically until December 10, knowing that the votes of fans and the official Globe Soccer jury, made up of the brightest stars in the world of football, including Marcello Lippi, Francesco Totti, Iker Casillas and Luis Figo, will have the final say in determining the winners.
For his part, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, Saeed Hareb, said: “The Dubai Globe Soccer Awards are at the forefront of sporting events in the country, and on the global football agenda.”
