Mediaset España has reorganized its management structure after completing the cross-border merger process by absorption of Grupo Audiovisual Mediaset España Comunicación by MFE-Mediaforeurope. As he has reported in a statement, Borja Prado will be the president of the company and will be left without editorial responsibilities. The Institutional Relations department assigned to Mario Rodríguez will report directly to him. Meanwhile, Alessandro Salem, the new CEO of the group, will be the one who decides the editorial line, according to the new organizational chart.
Massimo Musolino, CEO of Management and Operations, will report to Salem and will be responsible for the day-to-day business. The Economic-Financial divisions will depend on him, with Javier Uría at the helm; and Technology and Operations, with Eugenio Fernández as the person in charge; and the Human Resources departments, whose responsibility is assigned to Alicia Zamora; and Corporate Development, whose manager is Juan Antonio Moreno.
Salem and Musolino were chosen to replace Paolo Vasile, who led the company as CEO for 24 years. His intention was to leave office in 2019, but the arrival of the pandemic, which dealt a blow to the group in terms of advertising investment, made him extend his tenure. He formally announced his departure in October 2022.
Salem now also has direct responsibility for the Corporate General Management, headed by Mario Rodríguez; the Department of Communication and External Relations, headed by Sandra Fernández; Publiespaña, with Stefano Sala as president and Davide Mondo as CEO; the General Directorate of Contents, headed by Manuel Villanueva; the News Division, whose responsibility is assigned to Juan Pedro Valentín; and the News Division of Telecinco, headed by Pedro Piqueras.
In 2022, the last year in which Vasile was in charge, the Mediaset group, whose main shareholder is the family of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, registered a net profit of 178 million euros, somewhat below the 181 million of the last year. The decrease in profits reflects the drop in the audience of television channels, especially Telecinco, and lower advertising billing.
