Sports Desk. The mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is starting from today. It will be held today i.e. on 24th and 25th November in Jeddah and 577 players will come under the hammer. The ten IPL teams have a purse of Rs 641.5 crore and 204 possible selections are left to be made.
The 10 teams retained a total of 46 players, with Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals being the only franchises to utilize their entire quota of six retentions. The 577 players include 12 marquee players including Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer who have been divided into two sets. Marquee players will come first in the (IPL) auction. After this, bidding will be done for other capped and uncapped players.
Arshdeep Singh, who has taken 96 T20 International wickets in the last three seasons, can also get a big bid. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are also among the contenders for the big bid. Iyer could be Delhi’s choice for captaincy. Eyes will also be on fast bowler Mohammed Shami who is playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Ishan Kishan will also be prominent among the Indian players but this time Mumbai Indians are not in a position to buy him for Rs 15 crore like last time.
All teams are aware of the ability of England’s aggressive batsman Jos Buttler. In the absence of all-rounder Ben Stokes, he could be the most expensive foreign player. His base price is Rs 2 crore. Among the foreign cricketers, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc will also be included in the bidding, who was last bought by Kolkata for Rs 24.75 crore, the biggest bid in IPL history.
