San Francisco | Luxury German automaker Mercedes-Benz, renewable energy company MN8 and electric vehicle infrastructure company ChargePoint have partnered to install 400 fast electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs across the US.
As reported by The Verge, the project aims to boost EV sales and improve the country’s struggling EV charging infrastructure.
The expected $1 billion project cost will be split equally between Mercedes and the MN8.
Starting this year, companies will start building hundreds of new hubs, which will include more than 2,500 direct current (DC) fast-charging plugs.
“It’s a strategic decision for us to really put our money where our strength is,” Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Kallenius told reporters.
“And support the direction we’ve been taking over the past few years, turning to electric and positioning the company by the end of this decade to have an all-electric lineup,” Kallenius said. be able to serve the markets together.”
