The scam is through fake e-mails or phone calls in the names of UAE embassies, officers and staff. Students are the main victims of fraud. The message is being sent that if bribes are paid, admission to universities can be made possible and scholarships are available.
The scam is asking for money in advance to get these services. The Ministry warned the public not to respond to such e-mails and messages. Those facing scams are also requested to contact the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs Emergency Hotline (0097180024).
