Argentine star Lionel Messi announced that he will move to Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer, in an interview with Spanish media on Wednesday.
Messi told the Spanish newspapers Diario Sport and Mundo Deportivo: I have decided that I am going to Miami, I do not have (the deal) 100 percent sealed or maybe there is something left to work on, but we decided to continue our way there.
The Argentine striker (35 years old) spent the last two seasons in Paris Saint-Germain, and played his last match with the club last Saturday, after moving in 2021 from Barcelona, where he spent most of his football career.
Messi said that he did not want to wait for Barcelona to find a formula to be able to sign him, given the club’s financial situation that led to his departure from him.
He added: I was afraid that it would happen again. I decided to leave Europe, it is true that I had offers from another European team, but I didn’t even think about it because in Europe, my idea was to go to Barcelona only.
He continued: After winning the World Cup and not being able to go to Barcelona, it is time to go to MLS to live football in a different way and enjoy my daily life more.
And he added, “It is clear that I am going with the same responsibility and desire to win, and to do things well, but with more calmness.”
