San Francisco. Meta (formerly Facebook) could see layoffs again next week. This will be the third round of layoffs in the company. According to Vox’s report, these layoffs will affect Meta’s business department and thousands of employees may lose their jobs.
The third round of layoffs is set to begin next week, said Nick Clegg, META president of global affairs. This will affect everyone in the business team, including my team.
While the exact number has not been confirmed, the company is expected to lay off around 6,000 employees in this round.
In March, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company planned to cut 10,000 more jobs by the end of May after eliminating 11,000 jobs in November last year.
The tech giant last month cut nearly 4,000 positions out of 10,000.
The report states that Meta will have around 86,000 employees at the end of 2022.
In April, Meta laid off nearly its entire team created to combat misinformation.
Most of the team responsible for combating fake news on Facebook and Instagram has been sacked, according to ‘Command Line’ by The Verge’s Alex Heath.
