San Francisco. Meta has announced the ability for users to link non-fungible token (NFT) posts on Instagram to Facebook. A non-fungible token is a token that cannot be changed.
The company said that as it continues to roll out digital collectibles on Facebook and Instagram, “we’ve started giving people the ability to post digital collectibles that they have on both Facebook and Instagram.”
This will enable people to connect their digital wallets to either of the two apps, Meta said in a statement late Monday.
Meta has been testing support for NFT ‘digital collectible’ posts on Instagram since May.
This feature includes adding digital wallets, sharing digital collectibles, and automatically tagging creators and collectors.
Meta said there will be no fees associated with posting or sharing digital collectibles on Instagram.
NFT facility has been expanded to 100 countries in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Americas.
“In addition, we now support wallet connections with Coinbase Wallet and Dapper, as well as the ability to post digital collectibles on the Flow blockchain,” according to Meta.
The company supports connections with third-party wallets including Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, and Dapper Wallet.
Currently supported blockchains include Ethereum, Polygon, and Flow.
Once connected, creators and collectors have the ability to choose which NFTs from their wallets they want to share on Instagram.
