San Francisco. Microsoft has announced that it will no longer support its virtual assistant Cortana as a standalone app in Windows from the end of 2023. The tech giant said in a support page that the change will only affect Cortana in Windows and will be available in Outlook Mobile, Teams Mobile, Microsoft Teams Display and Microsoft Teams Room.
It said, instead of having to click on the Cortana icon to launch an app and start using voice, you can now use voice and meet your productivity needs through a variety of tools.
The company had announced in 2021 that it would end support for its Cortana app on both Android and iOS devices.
The company first launched Cortana for iOS and Android in December 2015.
The app was designed to connect Windows 10 PCs and mobile phones but it failed to gain momentum as Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri won the race.(IANS)
