On Monday, May 9, military expert Viktor Litovkin, in an interview with Izvestia, commented on a bill on the supply of weapons to Ukraine from the United States under Lend-Lease.
According to the observer, the campaign to provide Kyiv with military support suggests that Ukraine will have to pay the price.
“This is not charity, these are not gifts – this is a commercial event. When the United States Congress allocates, for example, $800 million for military assistance to Ukraine, weapons are purchased from firms with this money. <...> What will happen later with these weapons <...> – The United States is not interested in this: $ 800 million is recorded in the total debt of Ukraine to the United States, ”Litovkin explained.
The expert added that decades will pass before Kyiv can pay off the debt, which continues to grow.
In addition, as noted by the interlocutor of Izvestia, Ukraine and the United States are counting on the propaganda effect of Lend-Lease. According to the expert, Biden did not accidentally choose May 9 to approve the project.
“The hint is simple: “You then, in the 45th, won, but this does not mean that you won completely and irrevocably.” Thus, the United States, like all NATO countries that are involved in the supply of weapons to Ukraine, are in solidarity with the nationalist bloody regime, ”he summed up.
Earlier on Monday, the head of the White House, Joe Biden, signed a bill adopted earlier by both houses of Congress on the supply of weapons to Ukraine under Lend-Lease.
The initiative was put forward in mid-January by a group of senators led by Republican John Cornyn (senator from Texas).
At the same time, earlier in the White House, information was disclosed that Biden had exhausted the funds provided to him for military assistance to Ukraine.
On April 28, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that Western weapons supplied to Ukraine could end up in the hands of terrorists, as happened with supplies to the Syrian “opposition”.
Western countries began to actively arm Ukraine against the backdrop of Russia’s ongoing military operation to protect the Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24.
