Ukrainian units being transferred to Artemovsk (Ukrainian name – Bakhmut) will be ground. On February 6, Izvestia was told about this by military expert Vasily Dandykin.
Earlier, Alexander Syrsky, commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that Bakhmut is an “impregnable fortress” thanks to the built system of engineering barriers and natural terrain. He added that Kyiv “uses every opportunity – both engineering and natural, to destroy the best enemy units.”
“Syrsky is one of the few generals who graduated from the Soviet military school. And he is responsible for this area, is considered one of the strategists of Ukraine. But I think that soon his opinion will be refuted. The parts that they are transferring there will be ground up, ”Dandykin said.
According to him, there is one road left that the Russian military must cut.
“And when that happens, that will be another question. This statement is largely tied to the political moment. Now everything depends on our assault squads, on our ingenuity, ”the expert concluded.
Earlier in the day, Acting Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin said that Russian forces were entrenched in the north and east of Artemivsk.
Before that, Izvestia correspondents saw how employees of the Wagner PMC break into the Ukrainian defenses and move forward in the Artyomovsk direction. It was noted that the activity of enemy artillery and armored vehicles in Artemivsk is falling due to the losses suffered by Ukrainian formations.
On February 5, the advance of the Russian Armed Forces in Artemovsk was recognized in the ranks of the Ukrainian army. Yevgeny Kozhirnov, a Ukrainian soldier from the Adam Battalion, said that the Russian military advanced up to 8 km in four months.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
