In the Hero National Futsal Club Championship today, Minerva Academy has captured the title by maintaining its excellent performance. With this win Minerva has qualified for AFC Futsal. For the first time, a club will present an Indian challenge in this. The team faced Mohammedan Sporting Club in the final. City Club won in the tiebreaker. Till the last time, the score of both the teams was equal to 2-2.

Opposition’s defense strong in the first half
Minerva Academy started in style in the final match played at KD Jadhav Indoor Hall, New Delhi. Nikhil Mali and Clinton kept trying but the opposition kept their defense strong. The first goal of the match happened in the 14th minute and this goal was scored by Suvo of Mohammedan Sporting Club. After trailing in the match, Minerva Academy came back and Clinton Rosario equalized in the 19th minute. The score remained 1-1 till half time.

At the beginning of the second half, Minerva Academy started making moves again. This time they got their first success and in the 23rd minute, Radhakant Singh scored a goal to give the team the lead for the first time. Minerva kept their defense strong but Sandeep equalized for Mohammedan Sporting Club. It was the last goal and at the end of full time both the teams were tied at 2-2.

The tie-breaker was used to decide the result of the match and both got chances to score. Minerva Academy scored on three out of four occasions and Mohammedan Sporting Club managed to find the ball only once out of four. The score was 3-1 on the board and Minerva captured the title for the first time. Indian Football Federation President Kalyan Choubey honored the winning team. And General Secretary Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran was also present here.
