It is common for public representatives to tell their problems and seek solutions. However, an MLA in Maharashtra received a strange request from a young man. It is remarkable that the MLA listened carefully and responded to that request instead of throwing it away. The audio tape of the youth talking to the MLA is going viral on social media in Maharashtra. The young man called Kannada MLA Uday Singh Rajpoot of Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray wing and expressed his grief that children are not being given to village boys. Not stopping with that.. he asked to find a girl to marry.
It is remarkable that the youth in question is a Shiv Sena party worker from Khultabad area. On Monday (January 9), MLA called Uday Singh Rajpoot and said, ‘I have 8, 9 acres of land. But, if I get married, no one will give me a child. There are girls in Kannada. Now it has become a big problem in rural areas’ he said. Taking note of his problem, MLA Uday Singh advised the worker to send his bio-data.
The activist’s agitation reflects the severity of the problem in the villages. A lot of such calls are coming. If the village has a population of 2 thousand people, 100 to 150 of them are unmarried youths. Even if they have 100 acres of land, it becomes difficult for them to find a girl for marriage. “Some girls’ parents think that they should marry their daughters to people living in urban areas,” said MLA Uday Singh.
The disparity between men and women is high in Maharashtra. According to the National Family Health Survey 2021, there are 920 women (sex ratio) for every 1000 men in Maharashtra.
