Actor Mohamed Khayi praised the decision taken by the Minister of Culture, Mehdi Bensaïd, regarding reducing the broadcast of dubbed productions and his encouragement of Moroccan works, noting that his step would serve many sectors, including the tourism field.
In his interview with Al Jarida 24, Khay spoke about the new appearance he adopted in preparation for embodying a character in one of the series in which he will star. He also took advantage of the opportunity to express his position on the dubbed productions shown on national channels.
What is the secret of the different look you are wearing now?
I am preparing to participate in a new television series, which will be released in the coming months. The role that I will play in the work forces me to appear with a shaved head and a « Luke » Different from what the Moroccan public is accustomed to.
What do you think of the decision to reduce the broadcast of dubbed productions on national channels?
Frankly, the Minister of Culture, Mehdi Bensaïd, made the right decision regarding this matter. Due to the fact that the dubbing used in the works shown on national channels is not good and the people who do it do not master their work as they should, due to the lack of interaction with the dialogue and also the poor performance. « Okay, whoever comes to do the dubbing and I don’t want to do the dubbing »Therefore, I consider the step taken by the Minister to be a good one.
Will Bensaid’s decision contribute to creating competition among drama makers?
The Minister expressed his support for national productions with the step he took, as Moroccans need to watch Moroccan works on the small screen, because it brings them closer to the reality of life and conveys to them their customs and traditions in the way they are accustomed to, which will open the way for us to present works that suit the level of the audience.
In your opinion, how will this step contribute to the advancement of the artistic sector?
The method adopted by the Minister to support national productions will contribute greatly to the advancement of the artistic sector and its owners, by providing opportunities to introduce many artistic productions that did not have the opportunity to be presented to the viewer. It will also contribute to encouraging tourism in Morocco, as through dramatic productions we can introduce our country and its culture. And delivering it to other peoples.
