Gymnast Rebeca Andrade will star on the February cover of Marie Claire magazine. Cited by the publication as “one of Brazil’s biggest medal promises”, the athlete spoke about her preparation for the Paris Olympics, her poor childhood, her fears and her dreams.
“I’m very proud to know that I can continue the legacy of [ginasta americana] Simone Biles. Not just me, but so many others. It’s the sport we love,” she said.
In October last year, Andrade defeated Biles, considered the number one in the sport, during the Artistic Gymnastics World Championship in Antwerp, Belgium, taking the gold medal.
“It was a huge source of pride to have her competing again, happily. It was an incredible energy, one of the best competitions of my entire career,” the gymnast told Marie Claire. The edition can be seen from this Wednesday (31).
