Peruvian actress Monica Sanchez, known for her role as ‘Charito’ in the series ‘There is room in the back’ used the X platform (formerly Twitter) to criticize President Dina Boluarte after three days of national mourning were declared following the death of former President Alberto Fujimori on September 11.
Mónica Sánchez, a strong opponent of the current government, disagreed with the measure taken by the Executive and expressed her opinion forcefully. The Government, through a supreme decree, ordered the measure of mourning in honor of Fujimori, with the corresponding funeral honors of a former head of State. The decision has generated various reactions in the artistic field.
What did Mónica Sánchez say to the President for declaring national mourning?
Mónica Sánchez questioned the government’s decision to declare a national day of mourning for the death of Alberto Fujimori. The actress, who has been one of the most critical voices of Dina Boluarte’s government, shared her disagreement with the measure on X, arguing that the president is not assuming responsibility for the deaths that occurred under her mandate.
“A ruler who does not take responsibility for her dead declares three days of national mourning for the death of a genocidal maniac. Everything fits,” said the actress.
It should be noted that, after the death of Fujimori the government published the decree establishing the days of mourning from September 12 to 14, during which the National Flag will be flown at half-mast throughout the country and in diplomatic offices abroad.
Monica Sanchez’s controversial comment after Alberto Fujimori’s death
The actress also previously shared her impressions after learning of the former president’s death on September 11, given the coincidence of the death of Alberto Fujimori and that of Abimael Guzmán, the leader of Sendero Luminoso, who died on the same day. “On the same day, September 11, at the same age, 86 years old. That’s karma.” he said.

Actresses spoke out about the death of Alberto Fujimori
Mónica Sánchez was not the only one to speak out on social media after Fujimori’s death. Actress Tatiana Astengo, also known for her activism on social media, shared a message where she called Fujimori a dictator and a genocidal maniac, highlighting that he died without facing all the consequences of his actions. “The dictator and genocidal Fujimori died on the same day as Abimael, the genocidal maniac. September 11. He left like a coward without paying for his crimes and without asking for forgiveness,” he detailed.

On the other hand, actress Karina Calmet expressed a completely opposite message. The actress showed her respect for the late former president and highlighted his role in Peruvian politics, which showed the contrast of opinions between public figures. “May Don Alberto Fujimori rest in peace, my sincere condolences to his family and friends,” wrote the actress.

Journalist Juliana Oxenford also spoke out, saying that, while she respects the pain of Fujimori’s family, she considers him a dictator who could have done much more for the country and who chose a path full of controversy and crimes. “Fujimori died and I feel sorry for those who truly loved him despite everything. Criminals also have families and I will never question the pain they may feel today. For me, a dictator has passed away, a man who could have done a lot for Peru and preferred to be a criminal.” he stated.
