The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation has sent over 1.1 thousand applications to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia for providing visa support to students from Afghanistan; to date, over 800 documents have been issued. This is stated on November 24 in the message of the department.
“Currently, 855 visas have been issued to students at the Russian Embassy in Kabul. The process of paperwork continues, ”the Ministry of Education and Science noted.
The removal of Afghan students will be organized in several stages. The exact dates of the special flights have not been named.
“The first stage is to organize the entry to Russia of 342 Afghan students with valid Russian visas,” the department added.
As reported on November 18, about 900 Afghan students admitted to study at Russian universities wanted to go to the Russian Federation to continue their studies.
In recent years, the Russian government has allocated 365 budget-funded places for Afghans in Russian universities. But a significant number of young people from the republic studied in Russia and at their own expense.
According to the Afghan embassy in Moscow, in 2020, more than 1.5 thousand Afghans were educated in Russian universities.
