From January 2 to January 8, 2023, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate identified 403 drivers who drove a car with signs of intoxication. This was announced on January 9 by the metropolitan traffic police in its official Telegram channel.
According to the agency, in addition to 403 motorists with signs of intoxication who got behind the wheel in such a state, the most common types of accidents in the first week of January 2023 were car collisions and collisions with pedestrians – 25 and 16 accidents, respectively.
According to the metropolitan traffic police inspectors, almost 44% of cases of collisions with pedestrians occurred in the area of pedestrian crossings.
The most accident day was Monday, January 2 – 12 accidents, and the smallest number of road accidents was recorded on Tuesday, January 3 – 5 accidents.
In this regard, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate reminded the capital’s car owners of the need to comply with traffic rules, and advised pedestrians to ensure their safety before crossing the road, eliminating haste and inattention.
On December 23, employees of the Moscow State traffic inspectorate reported that during the working week from December 19 to December 23, 271 drivers with signs of alcohol intoxication were identified in Moscow. 115 drivers were found to be intoxicated immediately. 133 people who were driving refused to undergo the examination procedure, which indirectly indicated their guilt. The department noted that out of the total number of detained drivers, 23 re-driving while in a state of intoxication, despite the fact that they had previously been deprived of the right to drive a car.
