The Russian championship in robotics RoboCup will be held May 12–15 at the Integration School in the Tomsk region. This was reported on May 11 by RIA “Tomsk”.
RoboCup is a non-profit project to promote artificial intelligence, robotics and other areas of science and technology through robotics competitions. Since 2016, the Russian stage of the RoboCup Russia Open championship has been held in Tomsk, the event is organized by Tomsk State University and the regional administration.
“We see that the coverage of the RoboCup robotic movement is growing every year, and, which is very important, this initiative comes from the teams themselves, educational institutions, teachers, perhaps because the element of technical creativity is much more important than the competitive element in RoboCup – the implementation by schoolchildren, students of their ideas and testing them in practice, at the championship site,” said the rector of the university Viktor Rulevskiy.
It is reported that 130 teams from 20 regions will participate in the competition. For the first time among them are representatives of Nalchik, Astrakhan, Nazran, Volgograd, Volgodonsk, Murmansk, Kaliningrad. Participants from Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Perm, Chelyabinsk, Taganrog, Kemerovo, Rostov-on-Don and Tomsk will also compete.
Participants will compete in robot football leagues, rescue robots and robot shows.
In February, the Volga region children’s festival of robotics “Robosabantuy-2022” was held in Kazan. Participants competed in five nominations: sumo of Lego robots, “Drafter”, soccer of controlled robots, competition of creative projects and competition of Lego design “Dream, create, test”.
