More than a ton of cocaine was found in the port of Barcelona, hidden in containers with cocoa on board a bulk carrier from Ecuador. This was reported on Tuesday, January 31, by the Spanish agency El Mundo.
According to the agency, a large consignment of the drug was discovered during a joint operation of the civil guard and the Spanish customs agency.
“Agents found out that a criminal organization of drug traffickers was going to use the “blind hook” method to import drugs into Spain. In particular, a merchant ship en route from Guayaquil (Ecuador) to the port of Barcelona was transporting containers with legal goods of cocoa powder, where 1340 kg of cocaine were hidden, ”the publication says.
Representatives of the departments involved in the operation noted that the white powder was found in bags at the bottom of four containers, cocoa and cocaine were not mixed.
The police are identifying criminals involved in sending and receiving drugs.
Earlier this month, it was reported that two clandestine drug labs had been destroyed in the jungle in Bolivia. This was done thanks to a large-scale special operation, in which both police and army units participated. It was noted that the laboratories were equipped with the latest technology and could produce between 50 kg and 100 kg of cocaine per day.
