Amid efforts to retain users of the new application, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms, said that the company’s Threads application will see the addition of new features, such as the ability to share posts via Instagram messages.
Threads, which competes with the X platform formerly known as Twitter, lost more than half of its users in the weeks following its tumultuous launch, with the app surpassing 100 million subscribers within five days of its launch in early July.
Head of product Chris Cox said in a July meeting heard by Reuters that Meta is considering adding more ways to reengage users, such as “making sure that important threads (posts) appear while scrolling through the Instagram page.”
Zuckerberg said in a post on Wednesday that the new updates will also include a button to make it easier to tag someone’s account on Threads.
The company is also looking forward to adding search capability and making an online version of Threads available in the coming weeks.
