Chittagong: Bangladesh player Shakib Al Hasan holds the record for most wickets in T20 International cricket. He achieved this record by taking 5 wickets in the match against Ireland.
Shakib, 36, plays for Bangladesh as an all-rounder. He has played 114 T20 matches and has taken a total of 136 wickets. With this, he has overtaken New Zealand player Tim Southee. Shakib achieved this feat by beating Ireland’s George Tagrol.
The second match of the T20 series against Ireland yesterday (March 29) was changed to 17 overs due to rain. Batting first, Bangladesh scored 202 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 17 overs. Liton Das crossed his fifty off 18 balls. Ireland continued to chase down the goal.
However, they were defeated by only 125 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 17 overs. Shakib bowled 4 overs and gave only 22 runs and took 5 wickets.
