A Texas mother is wanted by the police for leaving her children alone in the house for two months. Her 12-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son were left home with barely enough food.
The 31-year-old mother, Raven Yates, had left on a September day. According to police chief Stephen Carlisle, the children had some food available, but it soon ran out.
The daughter then made contact with her father, Yates’s ex, who was in another state at the time. He arranged food for them every now and then via the Doordash app (a kind of Thuisbezorgd). Their mother would be at work, the daughter told on the phone. After the man became suspicious, he went to the house with police officers in November. There they discovered that the children were alone, without food and with a wet bed. The girl had not told the truth out of fear.
“Anyway, the daughter did a great job,” Carlisle told the Houston Chronicle. “Both children were in very good health.” But, the police chief emphasizes, leaving small children unattended is dangerous. No school missed the children, because they have never been enrolled in the education system. The story has only now been released as police are still looking for the woman.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for Yates. She is twice suspected of leaving her children alone with no intention of returning. She may have left for the state of Alabama.
