The lawyers argued that Raghurama was arrested on false charges after questioning the anti-people policies of the government. The judge said that the defendants will be ordered to file a counter. Responding to this, the lawyers for the Center and the CBI said that the petitioner’s allegations against the state government and investigating agencies have not been named as respondents. Raghurama’s lawyer said that the Supreme Court has ruled that there is no need to hear the arguments of the accused at the FIR and investigation stage. After recording arguments on both sides, notices were issued to the respondents and the hearing was adjourned for two weeks.
In 2021, some people came to his house claiming to be the police and forcibly arrested him. Raghurama alleged in the petition that he was tortured by five masked men on the night of May 14, 2021 while in the custody of the CID. After that, he was conducted medical tests at the Guntur government hospital on the orders of the High Court, but as the report was different from the facts, they approached the court.
He recalled that medical tests were conducted at the military hospital in Secunderabad on the orders of the court. He said that the hospital report revealed that he had severe injuries on his legs. He also mentioned that he had written a letter to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha on this issue. He said that he asked to take action against the police who tortured him.. He said that even though he complained to the House Rights Committee on this issue, no action has been taken so far. It is reported that the letter written by Raghurama complaining against the CID officials has been sent to the Union Home Department for action. Now this matter has reached AP High Court. The CBI and the Center will file a counter and the trial will be held in the court.
