New Delhi: Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav, Former Chief Minister of Karnataka S.M. 106 people including Krishna, Carnatic musician Vani Jayaram have been awarded Padma awards.
The central government announced the Padma awards last night on the occasion of Republic Day. Padma Vibhushan awards to 6 people, Padma Bhushan awards to 9 people and Padma Shri awards to 91 people have been announced.
Late U.P. Former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Karnataka State S.M. Krishna, famous tabla player Zahir Hussain from Maharashtra, famous pediatrician Dilip Mahalanabis (West Bengal), famous architect Balakrishna Doshi (Gujarat), and Indian mathematician Srinivas Varadhan, who lives in the US, have been awarded the Padma Vibhushan. Mulayam Singh Yadav, Dilip Mahalanabis and Balakrishna Doshi are posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan.
Padma Bhushan: Popular film playback singer and Carnatic musician Vani Jayaram from Tamil Nadu, businessman KM Birla from Maharashtra, Kannada writer SL Bhairappa, IISC physics professor Deepak Dhar (Maharashtra), spiritual leader Swami Chinna Jeyar from Telangana, popular film background Singer Suman Kalyanpur (Maharashtra), linguistics professor and former associate vice-chancellor of Delhi Jawaharlal Nehru University Kapil Kapoor (Delhi), Infosys co-founder Narayanamurthy’s wife and head of Infosys Foundation Sudha Murthy (Karnataka), and spiritual leader Kamlesh D. Patel have been announced for the Padma Bhushan.
Apart from this, 91 people including social worker Palam Kalyanasundaram from Tamil Nadu, social workers and snake charmers Vadivel Gopal-Masi Sadayan, Bharatanatyam artist Kalyanasundaram Pillai, doctor Gopalsamy Veluchami, doctor Nalini Parthasarathy from Puducherry, music composer Keeravani from Andhra Pradesh and Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon have been awarded Padma Shri. .
