Hopkinson (Carl Hopkinson) has replaced James Payment, who was the fielding coach of Mumbai Indians for seven years. A native of New Zealand, Payment was a part of Mumbai Indians’ consecutive title wins in 2019 and 2020. The franchise thanked him and wished him all the best for his future endeavours.
Talking about 43-year-old Carl Hopkinson, he became a part of the coaching staff of the England men’s cricket team in the year 2018. Meanwhile, in 2019, the England team won the ODI World Cup trophy under the captaincy of Eoin Morgan. After this, in the T20 World Cup played in Australia in the year 2022, the England team lifted the trophy under the captaincy of Jos Buttler, at that time also Carl Hopkinson was a part of the coaching staff.
Talking about Carl Hopkinson’s record in domestic cricket, he has a lot of experience of playing in 64 first class matches. Apart from this, he has played 92 List-A matches and 28 T20 matches. In such a situation, Hopkinson has a lot of experience as a player and a coach, which will definitely benefit the players of Mumbai Indians team in the coming season.
