San Francisco. The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has sued Tesla for allegedly racially harassing its black employees.
Black workers at Tesla’s Fremont and California manufacturing facilities have routinely faced racial abuse since 2015, according to the EEOC lawsuit. Abuses were used openly against him.
The EEOC said black employees routinely faced abuse at desks, in bathrooms, inside elevators, and more. The EEOC investigation also found that people who objected to racial hostility faced various forms of retaliation, including termination, change in job duties, transfer, and other adverse employment actions.
EEOC Chairwoman Charlotte A. Burroughs said, “Every employee deserves to have their civil rights respected, and no employee should have to endure the shameful racial bigotry revealed in our investigation.”
Burroughs said the lawsuit makes clear that no company is above the law, and the EEOC will vigorously enforce federal civil rights protections to ensure American workplaces are free from unlawful harassment and retaliation.
