Mutton canteens will be opened in the state on February 17, which is CM KCR’s birthday. These will be established under the auspices of the State Sheep and Goat Development Federation. Meat canteens are being set up to increase consumption and sale of quality meat at cheap prices. While these meat canteens will be set up in Hyderabad first, they will be set up in all districts in phases. The first meat canteen will be opened at Masab tank on 17th of this month. Meat-based food products will be sold in it.
Along with meat canteens, a mobile meat market will also be set up. Meat production has increased massively through the sheep distribution scheme in the state. With this, the government hopes that mutton canteens will be useful to increase meat products. Important decisions were taken recently in a meeting held under the auspices of the Sheep and Goat Development Federation. Approved the establishment of mutton canteens. It is also thought to take steps towards providing pension to sheep and goat breeders and providing insurance facility to cattle.
Dr. Dudimetla Balaraju Yadav, Chairman, Sheep and Goat Development Institute Corporation, said that special ambulances have already been brought for the cattle. By calling the number 1962, he came to the house and said that he was providing medicine to the cattle. He said that they even come to remote villages and provide treatment to cattle. It has been clarified that Rs.1 lakh exgratia is being provided in case of accidental death of sheep.
