New Delhi: His father and senior Congress leader AK Antony has said that his son Anil Antony’s joining the BJP is painful.
AK Antony’s son Anil Antony joined the BJP today in the presence of one of the senior BJP leaders and Union Minister Piyush Goyal in Delhi. After his son joined the BJP, A.K. Anthony said: “It is painful that my son Anil Anthony has joined the BJP. His conclusion is very wrong.
I will never support BJP or its parent organization RSS. They are trying to weaken the country. They are weakening the democratic foundations of the country. The policy of BJP and RSS is to divide people along religious lines. I have always been against this. I will continue to fight until my last breath.
The Congress Party and the Nehru-Gandhi family are the main reason for India’s unity and diversity. They see all the people of the country as Indians irrespective of their caste, religion, race and region. Indira Gandhi was the reason why I got interested in politics and joined the Congress party.
Only once did I disagree on policy with Indira Gandhi. After that I rejoined the party. I continue to have great respect for him. I am now 82 years old. I don’t know how much longer I will be. But I will die as a Congressman,” said AK Anthony.
