Bengaluru: Dussehra festival is celebrated annually in Mysuru, Karnataka. Accordingly, the Mysore Dussehra festival begins on the 26th of the 413th year. President Drabupati Murmu will inaugurate the festival by offering a special pooja to Goddess Chamundeeswari at Chamundi Hill, Mysore. Following this, Prince Yathveer will offer special worship to the Banni tree in the palace complex.
Following this, arrangements have been made for 10 days of various art programs like flower fair, film festival, food festival, youth festival, women’s festival.
On the last day of the festival, on the evening of October 5th, the elephant Abhimanyu will carry the 750 kg gold ambari of Chamundeshwari Goddess in a procession. This will be followed by a procession of horse troupes, elephant troupes, musical troupes and performing troupes from various states.
It has been reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited to inaugurate the Jambu Savari procession on the closing day.
