The comic actor John Sandoval, known as ‘Nabito’, is going through a difficult time in his health. With more than a week hospitalized in the Almenara Hospital of Lima the comedian undergoes tests to confirm if he suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the motor system and causes muscle weakening.
Through tears, the artist recalled his initial diagnosis in 2018, when doctors predicted he would only have six months to live. However, despite the difficult road he has faced since then, ‘Nabito’ does not lose hope and assures that there is still “a lot of ‘Nabito’ to come,” showing his characteristic optimism and humor in the midst of adversity.
‘Nabito’ hospitalized for more than a week, what did the comic actor say?
The beloved comedian ‘Nabito’ entered the Almenara Hospital, in Lima, to undergo medical tests after years of facing an illness that affects his motor system. During an interview, the actor recalled his initial diagnosis of ALS in 2018, when doctors predicted he would have just six months to live. “Look, I’m still alive,” he commented through tears on the ‘La Banda del Chino’ program. Although he tried to maintain his trademark humor, his emotion got the better of him as he talked about his fight against this devastating condition.
Despite the difficult moment, ‘Nabito’ remains optimistic, assuring his followers that he still has “a lot to give.” His father, Roger Sandoval, known as Cotito, reported that doctors continue to perform tests to confirm the diagnosis.
What illness does ‘Nabito’ suffer from?
In 2018, ‘Nabito’ was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), affects the neurons responsible for controlling voluntary muscles. The first symptoms began to appear in 2017, and since then, the actor has faced progressive weakness in his arms and legs.
In an emotional interview on the podcast ‘We all heal’ by Lizbeth Cueva, the comedian remembered his doctor’s words at the time of diagnosis: “First it will be your arms, then your legs, then your face and at the end it reaches your heart.” Despite the gloomy prognosis, the artist has exceeded all expectations and, together with his family, continues to fight.
