New Delhi: The case related to the appointment of judges in the Supreme Court Judges S.K. Kaul and A.S. Oka, the bench heard earlier yesterday. Attorney General Venkataramani, appearing for the central government, said:
A list of 104 names is pending with the Central Government for appointment of Judges to the vacant posts of Judges in High Courts which may be in various States. The names of 44 judges have been finalized and they will be reported to the Supreme Court in 3 days. This is what he said.
To that, the judges questioned Attorney General Venkataramani about the status of the list of names of 5 judges recommended by the collegium of judges for promotion as Supreme Court judges.
When Venkatramani replied, “There is a difference of opinion on this matter. So the judges should allow the case to be adjourned for some time. I have some explanations. “There may be some differences of opinion.” The judges accepted the request of the Attorney General and postponed the hearing.
