‘Napalm girl’ undergoes last skin treatment after 50 years: ‘No longer a victim of war’

The iconic photo of ‘napalm girl’ Phan Thi Kim Phuc is one of the most famous in world history. Phuc was barely 9 years old when she was photographed by photographer Nick Ut on June 8, 1972, after the Americans bombarded the South Vietnamese village of Trảng Bàng with napalm. The now 59-year-old woman has been undergoing laser treatments for some time for severe burns on her upper body. This week was her very last skin treatment.
