Advertising is making its way across platforms streaming. Some of the most popular, such as HBO Max or Disney +, have already incorporated it and offer their subscribers cheaper plans in exchange for being able to introduce it. It has already done it in other countries and now it is Spain’s turn: the company is going to eliminate the Basic plan. This was the cheapest alternative to contract the company’s services, but without including advertising. However, starting next week, this plan will no longer be an option.
In any case, this measure will only affect new subscribers. Those users who already had this plan contracted you can continue enjoying itaccording to the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU).
In this way, Spain joins the list of countries in which Netflix had already implemented this initiative. The first was Canada and Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States followed.
The OCU has indicated through its website that this measure “represents a loss of consumer rights.” The reason is that the range of available options is “reduced”and in a certain way force them to subscribe to a less economically advantageous plan,” they explained.
