The Sakhalin Regional Oncology Center received a new generation mammography system. This was reported by the press service of the regional government.
New equipment allows to detect pathology at the earliest stage. The doctor can see every millimeter of tissue, and the radiation load on the patient’s body is lower than in the device of the previous generation.
“The movement of the tube occurs at an angle, thus forming a three-dimensional visualization of the breast, including with the function of a biopsy. During the study, a specialist can take tissue for histology,” said Denis Vardatov, head of the X-ray diagnostics department.
According to IA SakhalinMedia, the mammograph was purchased as part of the program to combat cancer of the national project “Health”. Now specialists are carrying out commissioning work, it is planned to start the device from October 17.
In August, the Igrinsk and Mozhginsk regional hospitals of Udmurtia received new CT scanners. By the end of 2022, a similar device should be delivered to the Republican Oncological Dispensary.
