The state of New Mexico will offer tax refunds of up to $1,000 to those taxpayers who have filed their taxes corresponding to the year 2021.
Single individuals will receive $500, while married couples filing jointly will receive $1,000.
For those who chose the option, they will be able to receive the money through direct deposit. Otherwise, paper checks will be sent.
The checks will be mailed between June 20 and 29, The Washington Examiner reported.
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham issued a statement praising the refunds and stating that it was a personal priority for her.
“Commodity prices remain high across the country. Our state today is in a fantastic financial position, and it is important to me that New Mexico families share in that success.Grisham said.
If someone has changed their address since filing their taxes in 2021, they can easily update their address through the Taxpayer Access Point portal on the New Mexico Department of Tax and Revenue website.
You can also submit a change of address form directly to the department.
If bank information was updated after filing 2021 tax returns, a refund will be received via check that will be mailed to you.
