New Delhi. Amidst the growing demand for implementation of old pension among central employees, the central government has taken an important decision. The government has announced the implementation of a new pension scheme (Unified Pension Scheme) for central employees. There has been a political tussle over the pension scheme (Unified Pension Scheme).
The central government has come up with the Unified Pension Scheme as an alternative to the new pension scheme. Under this, employees who have served for 25 years will get 50 percent of the average basic salary as pension during the last 01 year period and after the death of the employees, 60 percent of the pension will be given to the family. Along with this, they will also be given dearness relief. This scheme is to be implemented from April next year i.e. 2025.
This will put an additional burden of Rs 6000 crore on the government in the first year. This will keep increasing with time. The government says that this scheme is similar to the old pension scheme but the burden of pension (Unified Pension Scheme) will not be put on the coming generation. After serving for 10 years, a minimum of Rs 10,000 and proportionate pension will be given. In the case of employees serving on assured pension, assured family pension and assured minimum pension, dearness relief will be given on the basis of All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI-IW) for industrial workers.
Under the new scheme (Unified Pension Scheme), in addition to gratuity, there will be a lump sum payment on retirement. This payment will be 1/10th of the monthly remuneration (salary + DA) on the date of retirement after completion of every six months of service. The amount of assured pension will not be reduced by this payment. The state government can bring this scheme under this scheme of the Center. If the state government also implements the new pension scheme (Unified Pension Scheme), then 90 lakh government employees across the country will also get its benefit.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav today informed about the cabinet decisions in a press conference at the National Media Center. He said that the new Unified Pension Scheme has been brought after extensive deliberations. This scheme is currently for central government employees. 23 lakh employees of the Center will get its benefit.
