Dhaka, January 11 (IANS) Bangladesh has issued new restrictive measures, which will come into effect from Thursday, amid a fresh increase in the number of corona cases. In line with the instructions, people are required to wear masks at all gatherings, shopping malls and restaurants, Xinhua news agency quoted a government notice as saying. Will have to wear it, else they will have to face legal action.
Buses and trains will operate at half capacity, while all gatherings including social, political and cultural functions will be banned amid fears of further spread of the Omicron variant. According to the measures, people will be allowed to eat in restaurants and stay in hotels. You have to show your vaccine certificate.
Mobile courts will launch a campaign to ensure that people wear face masks and follow other health norms. 2,231 new cases of corona were reported in Bangladesh on Monday, which is the highest number since September 10 last year. With a jump of 49.6 per cent in cases, the total number of cases in the country has increased to 1,595,931.
On Monday, 9 people were found infected with the new variant of corona in the country, Omicron, which has increased the total number of cases to 30. There have been 3 deaths due to corona in the country in the last one day, taking the death toll to 28,105.
