New Delhi: The Enforcement Department (ED) is developing new software for easy access to information of investigating agencies, including the CBI. The software is named “Seedos” (Core IT Operating System).
This software will greatly help to quickly investigate and take action on financial irregularities, money frauds and trace their links.
Specifically, enforcement officials can easily access data from investigative agencies including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), National Investigation Grid (NAGRID), Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) using this software.
Also, “Seedos” will greatly help the enforcement officers to carry out online searches of individuals, transactions, cases, supporting documents and basic data. The software can maintain an integrated database including all intelligence data received from Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA), current cases of ED, details of individual bank accounts, corporate entities, mobile numbers, PAN, Aadhaar, etc.
While it takes months to verify the facts of criminals, this software can be used to detect them instantly.
Also, it will lead to faster coordination among various investigative agencies, said the officials of the enforcement department.
Officials said that all the ED offices have already been linked with CCDNS/ICJS (Crime and Crime Surveillance Network System/Criminal Justice System), which is said to be the repository of First Information Reports (FIRs) registered across the country.
