Sunak reshuffled the cabinet on Monday. Tory MP Andrea Jenkins, a supporter of former prime minister Boris Johnson, has called for Sunak to be replaced by a ‘real leader of the Conservative Party’ as prime minister.
“Enough is enough… it’s time for Rishi Sunak to leave,” he wrote on X’s social media account. In it, he shared his no-confidence motion.
Jenkins blamed Sunak for the ouster of democratically elected leader Boris Johnson, who bravely fought for Brexit amid a deadlock in parliament.
“However, Suella has fired the only person in her cabinet who has the courage to speak out about the reality of the deplorable conditions on our streets and the police system that has left the Jewish community in fear for their lives and safety,” the Conservative Party leader thundered.
Even after Suella Braverman was fired, Jenkins continued to lash out at the X account on Monday. “Fired for telling the truth. Bad decision by Rishi who is leaning to the left.” Suella accused the police of acting on behalf of the protesters when dealing with pro-Palestinian marches in London.
Jenkins said he is confident his colleagues will follow suit and submit their no-confidence motions. “We are now fighting for our country,” he said.
If 15 per cent MPs in the government submit a no-confidence motion and demand a change of leader, a vote of confidence will be held on the leadership of Rishi Sunak of the Conservative Party.
James Cleverly has been appointed to replace India-born Suella Braverman. Along with this, former British Prime Minister David Cameron has also returned to the government, and Rishi Sunak has been appointed as the foreign minister in the cabinet.
